Who mentored you?
When you were young, who taught you how to ride a bike or to study for a test? Was there one person or multiple role models who helped you navigate the challenges of childhood? Every child is one caring adult away from being a success story. The difference between a statistic and a success story is you.
In 2014 in Galveston County, 20% of children under the age of 18 were living in poverty. The simple things that may seem easy or straightforward – going fishing, baking cookies, going to the movies – may be a complete mystery to a young person.
That’s why Big Brothers Big Sisters believes having a mentor is so important. Our volunteers provide friendship, guidance, understanding and encouragement to the children of Galveston County.
Your support of Gulf Coast Big Brothers Big Sisters is vital to our sustaining our mission of one-to-one mentoring. Get involved today!
